A Fresh Start Is Like Jumping Out Of An Airplane

October 11, 2018 by Tazim Leave a Comment

If you’re beating yourself up for not keeping up with your new year’s goals, this may be music to your ears: you can have a fresh start anytime of the year! If you’ve made a promise to yourself that you’ll go for a run twice a week, but you haven’t yet—start on Sunday, or now. There are a few times a year when I give myself permission to really, thoroughly review my progress and majorly change things up. These times are: January, June (my birthday month), and September (back-to-school). Spring is also a great time of year to have a fresh start.

In many ways, this blog is like a fresh start. I’ve been blogging for over 6 years now (!!!) and over the years (of my life and in my blogging career) I’ve really been able to figure out what’s most important to me. Celebrate Life’s Adventures focuses on my most favourite topics ever. Okay, there’s no category for love—which is such an important topic to me—but there will be plenty of self-love in the Self-Care category, and mentions of my favourite people (the ones I love) throughout all my posts. If you’re interested in what I have to say about the topics I’ll be blogging about here, check out my ABOUT PAGE.

Starting on a new adventure can be both exciting and scary at the same time—like jumping out of an airplane. I should know, because I’ve done so before.

No one told me that the first time you skydive, you aren’t supposed to go solo. Apparently the norm is to skydive with an instructor and then go solo. I had no idea. Skydiving wasn’t something that had been on my ‘bucket list’ for a long time, or something that I’d been wanting to do for a while. The idea of going skydiving just came up with a few of my friends from work, and it seemed like it could be fun, so I agreed to go ahead with it. I was young (18) and hadn’t really had any adventures in my life. That adventure was the first of many, both small and large. Sometimes, I feel like I have a boring life—but it only takes a second to look back and think about all the adventurous things that I’ve done. Each time, because of risks involved, it is a little bit exciting and scary.A Fresh Start Is Like Jumping Out Of An Airplane-2

This fresh start is my newest arena

If you checked out my about page (above), you’d notice how excited I am about the new site and all the great content I can share with you! At the same time, I recognize that something new is always a risk.

“An arena is any place in our lives where we would like to try on a new way of being that’s a little bit bolder and a little bit more honest and a little bit more authentic.” – Brené Brown

October 7, 2018 by Tazim Leave a Comment

Maybe your partner or friend urges you to give camping a try. But you're terrified about camping. I hope you'll give it a try after you read this post.

Are you scared of the prospect of spending the night in “the great outdoors?” It can be a scary place full of unknown factors, moderate isolation, and just a thin tent between you and the world. The lack of electricity or immediate technology can seem hard to wrap one’s head around. And yet, maybe because your significant other or friend urges you to give it a try, you’re willing to. But, if you’re terrified of camping, I hope you’ll give it a try after you read this post.

How do you get over the Initial Fear of Camping?

Ah, the open road! For me, it doesn’t feel like summer unless there’s at least one road-trip planned! There are so many reasons why you might want to plan a road-trip this summer: the freedom to explore and be spontaneous, the ability to venture near and far to places you may not be able to get to via other modes of transportation, and having the ability to keep within a budget. You CAN stick to your budget on a driving holiday! Here are a few road-trip tips to help you along.

What is Vancouver, Canada Best Known For?

Or: Why you’re going to fall head over heels in love with Vancouver.

What is Vancouver, BC, Canada known for?

Beautiful view of downtown Vancouver, mountains, and park.

My brother calls us “laid-back west-coasters.” Everyone tells it’s beautiful here, when I say I’m from Vancouver. I always see news articles and broadcasts about how expensive it is to live here. All these things are true about Vancouver.

“What is it again that you love so much about [Vancouver]?” and they answer, “We have everything. The mountains and the water.” This is their explanation, mountains and water.

Café du Presbytere in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region in Québec, Canada

July 14, 2018 by Tazim Leave a Comment

The Cafe du Presbytere in the borough of Chicoutimi, Québec was an unexpected delight!

Who knew you could get such delicious vegan/vegetarian friendly food in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region in Québec? I didn’t! Actually, I purchased quite a lot of snacks for this leg of my Québec trip before I left home, because I thought I’d be out of luck in terms of food options!

Not only did the Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean team make sure there were vegan options for me (and vegetarian options for another blogger), they took the whole press tour group to some amazing places to eat. I feel like we really experienced this region’s cuisine.

One of the clear highlights of my trip through the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region was a lunchtime stop at the Cafe du Presbytere in the borough of Chicoutimi, Québec.

Cafe du Presbytere

This café takes pride in serving its own version of well-known dishes made from local products and ingredients found by its chef in the woods of the Saguenay region. In a warm and friendly ambiance, you’ll enjoy delicious cuisine while encouraging your hosts’ mission of socio-professional integration. – Québec Original website
