Fraser Valley Filming Locations You’ll Recognize in BC
If you’ve ever paused a scene in Virgin River or a Hallmark film and thought “that looks like BC,” you’re right. The Fraser Valley is one of the most-filmed regions in Canada, and most of these locations are working farms and heritage streets that anyone can visit.
I toured them on a Cineventure FAM trip right after the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) conference, approaching each stop with a travel writer’s eye and practical curiosity about what these locations offer beyond just a great photo.
Here’s what I found. Three things worth knowing before you read further:
- Krause Berry Farms in Langley is Myrtle Farms from Virgin River – worth the drive even if it isn’t berry-picking season.
- Abbotsford films roughly 25 productions a year, and you can walk the streets where they filmed.
- Don’t rush through – this list deserves at least 2 days to get through. Abbotsford makes for a great overnight stop, so you can have waffles from Krause Berry Farms for brunch.
Langley Filming Locations

Krause Berry Farms: The Stop Worth Building Your Day Around
Address: 6179 248 St, Langley, BC | krauseberryfarms.com
I pulled into the parking area and recognized it immediately. The topiary garden. The wooden market signage. The whole layout – exactly as it looks in Virgin River, because it is exactly as it looks.

This is Myrtle Farms. Preacher and Julia’s scenes, the farm market, the patio – all filmed right here. The land has been in the Krause family for 52 years, and it shows in how the place feels. It’s a real working farm that happens to be famous.
When our group arrived, everyone settled in for a fruit spritzer, which helped a lot with the unseasonal heat we experienced. Without any fuss, Al and Sandee quietly put together a vegan charcuterie board just for me. That one gesture told me everything about how this place operates.
While the others enjoyed their wine tasting, I listened and made note of the care that went into everything from the specific varieties chosen to the bottle label designs to the names.

For vegan travellers specifically:
- They use separate waffle irons for vegan and gluten-free waffles. That’s dedicated equipment, not a verbal reassurance.
- The farm store carries vegan pies and jams
- Pick up the waffle batter to make them at home
- Consider taking home some jam from the special vegan section. I tried the strawberry rhubarb flavour, and I can practically taste the love and care that went into it when I have it with my toast in the morning.
This is the strongest vegan-friendly food stop on the entire Fraser Valley route.

What to expect by season:
- Summer: U-pick berry fields open up. The farm’s own tip – picking is best within two days of rain.
- Autumn: Pumpkin patches and harvest celebrations take over the property.
- Year-round: The farm market and bakery are open, so there’s always a reason to stop.

Fort Langley: Riverdale, Amazing Race Canada, and a Village Worth Slowing Down In
We drove through Fort Langley on the way to Krause Berry Farms, with filming locations pointed out along the route.
The Fort Langley Community Hall is where Riverdale filmed its iconic Town Hall scenes. Standing on the main street, you understand immediately why the production chose it – the heritage scale is exactly right.
The Amazing Race Canada filmed here recently at the Antiques Market and Fort Langley National Historic Site. Both are worth visiting in their own right, not just for the screen connection.
It pairs well with a Krause Berry Farms visit – they’re about 15 minutes apart.
Abbotsford Filming Locations
Abbotsford has earned its nickname. Tourism Abbotsford calls it Abbywood, and with roughly 25 productions a year using its streets, farms, and heritage properties, the name fits.
Productions filmed in Abbotsford include Virgin River, Wild Cards, Tracker, Riverdale, The Good Doctor, and a long list of Hallmark films. Often, the same corners appear across multiple shows – different set dressings, same bones.
Historic Downtown Abbotsford
Walk these streets, and the Abbywood nickname makes immediate sense.
The heritage architecture is genuine, the scale is human, and the main streets photograph like small-town America because they’re an actual small town – just a Canadian one. Wild Cards, Tracker, and Riverdale have all filmed here extensively.
Spots with direct filming connections:
- Foxglove Floral Cafe – used in Wild Cards. It’s a coffee shop inside a full-service florist and is worth a stop on its own.
- Zilla’s Donuts on Essendene Avenue – used in Tracker.
- Spruce Collective – used in Wild Cards and Riverdale. Vintage goods and local products.
The mural trail adds real cultural depth to the walk. Look for a sixty-foot tribute to the WWII-era aircraft that trained at Abbotsford Airfield, two collaborative murals pairing professional and emerging artists, and Indigenous land acknowledgement art.
Abbotsford sits on the traditional territories of the Sto:lo people – that context belongs alongside the filming history, not as a footnote.

Tuscan Farm Gardens
Address: 6834 Mount Lehman Road, Abbotsford, BC | tuscanfarmgardens.com
This is the most-filmed farm property in the Fraser Valley, with over 20 productions to its name, including:
- Virgin River
- Aurora Teagarden Mysteries
- A Lot Like Christmas
- Christmas in Tahoe
- Christmas Takes Flight
- Christmas Treasure
When we arrived, the wisteria was in full scent, and we were welcomed with lavender lemonade before we’d even had a proper look around. The gardens are immaculate – the kind of setting that makes sense for both film shoots and weddings.

Seaside Pearl Farmgate Winery
AKA “Mount Lehman’s Hidden Gem”

Productions filmed here:
- Wild Cards
- Christmas Do Over
- Five-Year Christmas Party
- Love by the Book
- Love is a Piece of Cake
- Wedding Season

Even as someone who doesn’t usually seek out wineries, I found myself genuinely enjoying the experience. The peaceful setting, the beautiful grounds, and the unique filming history make this spot worth visiting.
It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for weddings, slowing down for an afternoon, and soaking in the atmosphere of a real filming location.
Then I found something that made me stop in my tracks. They had a rosé named Magnolia – the same name as my girl bunny – and that made me slow down and actually take in where I was.

The grounds are genuinely beautiful. The chapel-style building with the copper spire, the vineyard rows, and the quiet of the property. You can see why production crews have returned here for so many different shoots.
Even for non-drinkers, the grounds and the visual experience are the draw. Combine it with Historic Downtown Abbotsford, about 10 minutes away.
How to Sequence the Day
All of these locations require a car from Vancouver. Public transit doesn’t serve this route well.
Suggested order – Abbotsford in the morning, Langley in the afternoon:
- Tuscan Farm Gardens – 30-45 min
- Seaside Pearl Winery – 30 min (5 min from Tuscan)
- Historic Downtown Abbotsford – 1 hour (10 min from Seaside Pearl)
- Fort Langley – 30-45 min (30 min drive)
- Krause Berry Farms – 1 hour minimum (10-15 min from Fort Langley)
Drive time from central Vancouver to Abbotsford: 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic.
Best seasons:
- Late spring: wisteria at Tuscan and lavender across the valley
- Early summer: berry season opens at Krause
- Summer: u-pick berries and peak farm market season
- Autumn: harvest and pumpkin season at Krause, quieter roads
- Year-round: Historic Downtown Abbotsford and Fort Langley work in any season
