Krause Berry Farms: Virgin River Filming Location in Langley, BC
If you’re a Virgin River fan, you’ve already seen Krause Berry Farms. It shows up as Myrtle Farms in the series, and the market, the fields, and the patio look exactly as they do on screen.
I visited on a Cineventure FAM trip, and the filming connection was what got me there – but it wasn’t what I left thinking about. Al and Sandee Krause have been farming this land since 1974.
Over the years, they’ve slowly grown the farm into what it is today – adding the winery, the waffle bar, the U-pick fields, and the market. I’m excited to show you everything you can do at Krause Berry Farms.
Thank you to Tourism Langley, Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery, and Cineventure for hosting us.

Krause Berry Farms and Virgin River
Krause Berry Farms is Myrtle Farms in Virgin River. The Preacher and Julia scenes you’re thinking of – the market visit, the wine tasting, the early moments of their storyline – were filmed right here on this property. Virgin River has been filming here since Season 4 in 2021.
The market, the winery, and the outdoor areas are all recognizable from the show. Walking around, it genuinely looks like what you see on screen, which isn’t always the case with filming locations.
On my visit, the team handed me their full official list of productions filmed here. If you’ve watched a lot of Hallmark and holiday content over the years, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen this farm more times than you realize.

What to Do at Krause Berry Farms

U-Pick Fruit
The U-pick fields are the main draw in summer, and they’re exactly what you’d hope for from a farm that’s been doing this for over 50 years. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries all have their season, and the fields open when the crop is ready.

You pre-purchase your container at the berry booth before heading out – outside containers aren’t allowed, but if you bring back a clean Krause container from a previous visit, you get a discount at check-in.
I’ve been here for both strawberry and blueberry picking, and strawberries are my personal favourite season to visit.
One tip worth remembering: berry picking is best within two days of rain. Always check the farm’s Instagram or Facebook the morning you plan to go, since field availability can change daily.
The Waffle Bar
Fresh hot waffles, made to order, with toppings that change through the season. In summer, that means fresh berries straight from the fields.
What makes it stand out for plant-based eaters is the dedicated setup – Krause uses separate waffle irons for vegan and gluten-free orders. That’s a detail most farm cafes haven’t thought through.

The Estate Winery
The estate winery produces award-winning fruit wines made from what’s grown on the farm. The tasting room is open Wednesday to Sunday and is worth slowing down for before or after picking.

The Farm Market
The market is open year-round and genuinely worth browsing. You’ll find fresh produce, baked goods, preserves, frozen berries, and pantry staples made from the farm’s own fruit.

Vegan and Gluten-Free Options
The market carries vegan pies, jams, waffle mix, and a range of preserved and frozen fruit products. On my visit, Al and Sandee put together a custom vegan charcuterie board without being asked – just a warm, generous gesture from people who clearly care about their guests.
Fruit Picking at Krause Berry Farms
The U-pick season runs from late spring through fall, with different crops peaking at different times. Here’s a general guide to what’s available when:
- Strawberries: June
- Raspberries: Late June to early August
- Blueberries: Mid-July to late August
- Blackberries: Late summer
- Pumpkins: September through October
Availability changes week to week depending on the season and the crop. Always check the farm’s Instagram or Facebook before you go – fields can close early or take a break between picking rounds.
The best berry picking happens within two days of rain, when the fruit is at its freshest and the fields are most productive. If you’re planning a trip around picking specifically, keep an eye on the Langley forecast and time your visit accordingly.
I’ve been here on a team-building day and multiple times for personal visits across different seasons, and the blueberry season is consistently my favourite. The fields are generous, the fruit is ripe, and it never feels rushed.

How to Spend a Day at Krause Berry Farms

Summer
Summer is the peak season, and it earns it. Start with U-pick berries in the morning when the fields are freshest, then head to the Waffle Bar while you still have room.
The winery tasting room makes a natural mid-afternoon stop, and the market is worth a browse before you leave. Give yourself at least three hours – it’s one of those places where the plan loosens up on its own, and that’s a good thing.

Fall
Fall at Krause is a different experience. The berry fields quiet down and the pumpkin patch and barley maze take over, and the whole property has a harvest energy that’s easy to enjoy.
The corn pizza is on the menu and a great seasonal option. The market stays busy through the season with fall produce and seasonal baked goods.

Planning Your Visit
Krause Berry Farms is located at 6179 248 St, Langley, BC. It’s about an hour’s drive from Vancouver, making it an easy day trip or a natural stop on a Fraser Valley loop.
Before you go, always check the Krause Berry Farms website or their Instagram for current hours and field availability. They occasionally close due to weather, and U-pick fields can be picked out or unavailable without much notice.
How to Get There
Krause Berry Farms is in Milner, just south of the Trans-Canada Highway. From Vancouver, take Highway 1 east and exit at 264 Street, heading south, then follow the signs. GPS works well here – plug in the full address before you leave.
What to Pack
Bring sun protection, comfortable closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and a reusable bag for market finds. If you’re picking, dress for the weather – the fields are exposed. Cash is handy for the berry booth, though the farm also accepts cards.
Who This Is Best For
Krause is a great stop for Virgin River fans, berry-picking enthusiasts, plant-based eaters, and anyone who wants a genuinely unhurried Fraser Valley day. It’s also well-suited to families with kids and older parents. It’s not the right fit if you’re looking for a quick stop – the farm rewards people who slow down and stay a while.
The Best Time to Visit
Mid-week visits are quieter than weekends, especially during strawberry season in June when the farm gets busy. Summer mornings are the best time for U-pick – fields are freshest, and crowds are smaller. Fall is worth it for the pumpkin patch and harvest atmosphere, with a completely different energy from summer.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Krause Berry Farms appears as Myrtle Farms in Virgin River, and the farm has been used for recurring filming since Season 4. The market, winery, and outdoor areas are all recognizable from the show.
Do I need to book in advance for U-pick?
No reservation is required. You purchase your container at the berry booth on arrival. Check the farm’s Instagram or website before visiting to confirm the fields are open that day, as availability can change.
Is Krause Berry Farms vegan-friendly?
Yes, more than most farm stops in the Fraser Valley. The Waffle Bar has vegan and gluten-free options with dedicated waffle irons, and the market carries vegan pies, jams, waffle mix, and preserves.
Can I bring my dog to Krause Berry Farms?
No pets or animals are allowed on the property. Leave your dog at home for this one. Also, leave your drone at home.
Tips for Visiting Krause Berry Farms
Krause is a working farm first. The film connection is real and the team is proud of it, but the fields need tending, the market needs restocking, and other visitors are there to enjoy their day, too.
Take your photos and make your content, but move through the spaces with some awareness of where you are. The berry fields in particular aren’t a film set – they’re a crop that needs to stay intact for the next season.
If you’re there primarily for the Virgin River connection, take the time to walk through the market and pick something up. The farm has been here since 1974 because people support it, and that’s part of why it still looks the way it does on screen.
A few things to know before you arrive:
- No dogs or animals on the property
- No drones
- No outside food or drink
- Check the website or Instagram before you go – the farm occasionally closes due to weather, and U-pick fields can be unavailable on short notice
