Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops Review – A Comfortable North Shore Hotel

Choosing a hotel in Kamloops isn’t always just about finding a comfortable bed for the night. If you’re visiting friends or family, travelling with a group or attending an event, having somewhere to spend time together outside your room can be just as important.

During my stay at Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops, I was particularly impressed by the spacious lobby, comfortable seating areas and quieter corners where guests could sit with a coffee or catch up with someone.

Located on the North Shore, the hotel also offers convenient access to Kamloops Airport, pet-friendly accommodation and an on-site restaurant. There are several reasons I’d consider staying here, depending on the purpose of my trip.

#1 North Shore Pick

Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops:

I particularly liked the spacious lobby with its quiet seating areas, coffee station and shared workspace. It’s a practical choice for visiting friends and family, with the added convenience of an airport shuttle and on-site restaurant.

Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops Location

Address: 675 Tranquille Road, Kamloops, BC

Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops is located in the North Shore neighbourhood, across the Thompson River from downtown.

According to the hotel, it’s approximately 7 minutes by car from downtown Kamloops and 12 minutes from Kamloops Airport.

The location works particularly well for travellers who want to be closer to the airport or have plans on the North Shore. Royal Inland Hospital is also within approximately 5 km of the property, although the hospital is on the downtown side of the river.

McArthur Island Park is nearby, with walking paths, sports fields and recreational facilities. It’s particularly convenient for families travelling to Kamloops for tournaments or other sporting events.

One thing to consider is that this isn’t the most walkable location for downtown sightseeing. If you’re planning to spend most of your time visiting the Kamloops Art Gallery, museums and downtown restaurants, you’ll need to drive or arrange transportation.

The hotel offers complimentary parking and electric vehicle charging stations.

Getting to the Hotel from Kamloops Airport

One particularly useful amenity is the complimentary shuttle service between Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops and Kamloops Airport.

The shuttle currently operates daily between 4:30 AM and midnight. I’d recommend confirming the arrangements directly with the hotel before travelling, especially if you’re arriving late.

For travellers flying into Kamloops to visit family, attend an event or connect with another journey, this can eliminate the expense of arranging airport transportation.

The Lobby and Shared Seating Areas

Of all the features at Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops, the spacious lobby and different places to gather stood out most to me.

Rather than having just a few chairs near reception, there’s a large common area with comfortable seating arranged in smaller groups.

I particularly liked the contemporary decor, with upholstered armchairs, leather seating and decorative wooden partitions creating more intimate spaces within the larger lobby.

There’s also a quieter seating area near a coffee machine, which I thought was a nice touch.

You can sit down with someone for a conversation without feeling as though you’re right in the middle of everyone coming and going.

A Place to Gather with Friends and Family

During my stay, I overheard guests talking about being in Kamloops to attend a funeral.

It made me think about how people use hotels for so many different reasons, often having nothing to do with sightseeing.

If you’re gathering with relatives for a wedding, funeral or family visit, you might have several people staying at the same property.

Having somewhere comfortable to meet without everyone squeezing into a guest room can be particularly useful.

The lobby at Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops offers several seating areas that could work well for this.

And with White Spot Restaurant right in the building, there’s somewhere to sit down for a meal together without needing to arrange transportation.

Space to Work or Plan Your Day

Another feature I appreciated was the large shared workspace with a table and chairs.

It’s useful for anyone travelling with a laptop, catching up on work or simply looking for somewhere to organize their travel plans.

I liked having a choice between the larger communal seating areas and quieter corners.

If you’re travelling with other people, those separate spaces give everyone a little more flexibility in how they spend their time.

The Guest Rooms at Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops

My room at Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops had a contemporary design with neutral colours, dark accent walls, upholstered furniture and colourful abstract artwork. I liked the mix of textures and decorative details, which gave the room some personality without making it feel cluttered.

The beds had crisp white bedding, tall upholstered headboards and individual wall-mounted reading lights. There were electrical outlets and a telephone beside the beds, keeping the essentials within easy reach. I liked the reading lights, which meant I could have some light without having to illuminate the entire room.

One of my favourite features was the seating area beside the bed. There was an upholstered armchair with a patterned cushion, a tall floor lamp and a small table. I always appreciate having somewhere other than the bed to sit, whether I’m reading, going through photos from the day or planning what to do tomorrow.

The artwork also caught my attention. A collection of framed abstract prints featured geometric shapes and a mix of orange, green and black. Along with the darker walls and contemporary lighting, these added some character to the room. I have a background in art history, so naturally, I notice these things.

For travellers spending more than 1 night in Kamloops, having space to unpack, sit comfortably and relax between outings makes a difference. After being out all day, I don’t necessarily want to sit at a desk or immediately get into bed.

The hotel also offers several room configurations, including suites and connecting rooms. If you’re travelling with family or friends, it’s worth checking which options are available for your dates.

Between the comfortable seating in the guest room and the spacious lounge areas downstairs, I liked having different places to spend time during my stay. It’s something I look for in hotels, especially when I’m not planning to be out sightseeing every minute of the day.

Hotel Amenities and Facilities

Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops has several amenities that make it convenient for longer visits, family trips and overnight stays.

The hotel has a heated indoor swimming pool and hot tub, available year-round. The pool is listed as open from 5 AM to 11 PM, giving guests plenty of flexibility to enjoy it before or after a day out.

There’s also a fitness centre with treadmills, an elliptical machine, a stationary bicycle and free weights. It’s open from 5 AM to midnight.

Having White Spot Restaurant & Lounge right inside the hotel is another convenience, especially if you’re arriving after a long drive or meeting friends and family for a meal.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast isn’t included with every room rate, so check your booking details. Families may also appreciate Holiday Inn’s Kids Eat Free programme, which applies to eligible meals for children aged 11 and under.

Pet-Friendly Rooms and Fenced Dog Run

Holiday Inn & Suites Kamloops welcomes up to 2 dogs in designated pet-friendly rooms, subject to availability and additional fees.

One particularly useful feature is the fenced outdoor dog run behind the hotel. Having a dedicated space on the property makes travelling with dogs more convenient, particularly when you don’t want to venture far after a long day.

Pet-friendly rooms must be arranged directly with the hotel, and weight restrictions apply. I recommend confirming the current pet policy and fees before booking.
