Best Vernon BC Vegan Restaurants And Vegetarian Food Options

Your vegan, vegetarian, and plant-based food options are plentiful in Vernon, BC. You’ll even find the best Vernon, BC vegan restaurant in the middle of downtown.

Yep, The Roxy Cafe in Vernon is your best option if you’re a plant-based foodie because their meals are seriously imaginative, fresh-tasting, and well-priced (a pretty good combo if you ask me).

Luckily, there are also other options, like Eatology, where avocado toast is elevated and definitely not basic.

Although if salads were the only thing to eat, being in the Okanagan, I doubt they’d be anything but simple…the growing season here is long, and the best peaches and other fruits and vegetables come from here.

I’ve driven through many times on the way back to Vancouver, but this time, I stayed overnight in Vernon and got to try out a few different places to eat. Keep reading for my top picks!

3. Eatology

I received a gift card from Tourism Vernon in order to try out Eatology. All opinions are my own.

I’ve eaten at Eatology twice now…once on my 2-day trip to Vernon in the fall and once on a previous drive-through, and it’s consistently a place I recommend. The staff know exactly what’s vegan or can be made vegan, so you don’t have to play guessing games, and the food feels fresh and hearty without being overpriced.

  • Cuisine: Indian

7. Intermezzo Restaurant + Wine Cellar

Intermezzo is a little more of a “sit down and unwind” kind of spot. Take your groceries with you on a picnic to Kalamalka Lake

Wrap up your visit at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park or one of the easy-access viewpoints along the shore. The lake’s distinct turquoise colour shifts with the sunlight, and there are plenty of shaded picnic spots where you can unwind.

A green historical sign for Coldstream Valley stands above Kalamalka Lake, detailing the region's 19th-century agricultural roots.
Coldstream’s rich farming past helped shape the Okanagan Valley we know today—marked here above stunning Kalamalka Lake.

It’s a perfect place to spend a slow afternoon — no rush, no agenda, just that soft Okanagan light over the water.

Cozy and clean rooms to relax after exploring Vernon.

Where to Stay

I stayed at Quality Inn & Suites Vernon. It’s central, comfortable, and includes breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking, ideal for a relaxed stay. The indoor pool and hot tub make it a nice base year-round.

A taste of Vernon in a box—from sweet jam to cheeky stickers, this local gift pack celebrates small businesses and big hospitality. I was provided with this box by Tourism Vernon.

What to Bring Home

You’ll find plenty of local goods that reflect Vernon’s creative, community-focused spirit:

  • Apple butter, pies, or preserves from Davison Orchards
  • Art prints or postcards from the Public Art Gallery gift shop
  • Handmade crafts or local honey from Swan Lake Garden & Market

Focus on gifts that connect you to the region, things you’ll actually use or enjoy long after the trip.

Best Time to Visit

Late summer to early fall is ideal for farm markets and lake days, but spring brings fresh blooms and quieter streets.

Winter and early spring are surprisingly lovely too; the galleries and cafés make Vernon a great off-season stop.
