Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops Review – My 2-Night Stay
For a city that supposedly has nothing to do, Kamloops keeps giving me reasons to come back. And after spending 2 nights at Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops, I have another hotel to recommend for anyone planning a visit.
Located just off the Trans-Canada Highway, this hotel makes a convenient base for a Kamloops getaway or an overnight stop on a longer BC road trip. I enjoyed the comfortable room, lovely decor and having a pool and hot tub to relax in after spending the day out.
But one of the highlights of my stay was having Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar right downstairs. Being able to enjoy a delicious dinner and breakfast without leaving the hotel made my visit that much easier.
I received a complimentary 2-night stay at Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops and hosted meals at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar. All opinions are my own.

Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops:
I enjoyed the comfortable rooms, indoor pool and hot tub, and having Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar right downstairs. With easy access to the Trans-Canada Highway, it’s a convenient choice for a BC road trip.

Location and Arrival
Address: 1175 Rogers Way, Kamloops, BC
Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops is located in Aberdeen, a neighbourhood in the hills above downtown Kamloops.
The hotel is just off the Trans-Canada Highway, making it a convenient place to stay if you’re arriving from Vancouver, travelling towards the Canadian Rockies or planning day trips around the Thompson Valley.
Unlike staying downtown, where you can walk between museums, galleries and restaurants, I’d recommend having a car when staying in Aberdeen.
The hotel is close to Aberdeen Mall, along with several restaurants and shops. Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is also a short drive away, with trails and viewpoints overlooking Kamloops and the surrounding hills.
Free outdoor parking is available for hotel guests, which makes arriving and unloading your belongings straightforward.

Why the Location Worked for My Road Trip
During my visit, I spent much of my time out seeing different parts of Kamloops rather than staying in one neighbourhood.
Aberdeen made a convenient base because I could return to the hotel at the end of the day, relax and have dinner without making another trip across the city.
On my final morning, I had breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant before heading out towards McAbee Fossil Beds and eventually home.
It was nice to sit down for a proper breakfast before getting back on the highway.

The Guest Rooms at Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops
My room at Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops was comfortable, and I loved the decor.
The furnishings had a warm, contemporary style, with wood finishes, upholstered furniture and soft lighting.
The bed had white linens, a wood-panelled headboard and a wall-mounted reading light. I liked the bedside lighting and the overall design, which made the room feel welcoming after a day of sightseeing.
I also appreciated having somewhere comfortable to relax between outings. When I’m travelling, I tend to spend much of the day visiting attractions, taking photos and driving between places, so having a comfortable room to return to matters.

In-Room Amenities
The hotel’s guest rooms are equipped with practical amenities for both short visits and longer stays.
These include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, complimentary Wi-Fi and a workspace.
I like having a refrigerator and microwave available when I’m travelling, especially on road trips when I might be bringing snacks or picking up food to enjoy later.
The hotel offers several room configurations, including suites, so it’s worth comparing the options if you’re travelling with family or want more space.

Hotel Amenities and Facilities
Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops has several amenities that make it a comfortable place to spend time between outings.
Indoor Pool, Waterslide and Hot Tub
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool with a waterslide and a separate hot tub.
I enjoyed having these facilities available after being out sightseeing. Sometimes, after spending the day walking around and visiting attractions, it’s nice to have somewhere to relax without leaving the hotel again.
The indoor pool is also a useful feature for families travelling with children, particularly when the weather isn’t cooperating.
The property also has a sauna and fitness centre.
Fitness Centre
The hotel has an exercise room with cardio and strength-training equipment.
Whether you’re travelling for business or trying to maintain your usual routine during a longer road trip, having access to exercise equipment means you don’t need to find a gym elsewhere in Kamloops.
Pet-Friendly Rooms
Travelling with your dog? Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops welcomes up to 2 dogs in a limited number of designated pet-friendly rooms.
The current policy allows dogs weighing up to 80 lb (36 kg) each, with an additional fee of $25 CAD per day.
Other pets may be accepted with advance approval from the hotel.
Because pet-friendly rooms are limited, I’d recommend contacting the property before booking rather than assuming one will be available when you arrive.

Dining at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar
One of the highlights of my stay was eating at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar, the hotel’s on-site Japanese restaurant.
I was hosted for dinner and breakfast here, and I enjoyed both meals.
The restaurant was busy with people coming in for celebrations during my visit, which made it feel like somewhere locals would choose for a meal rather than simply a restaurant attached to a hotel.
I loved seeing people gathering around tables and enjoying themselves.
Having a restaurant downstairs is convenient, but it makes a difference when the food is something you genuinely look forward to eating.

Dinner at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar
After spending the day out around Kamloops, it was nice to return to the hotel knowing I didn’t need to get back in my car to find somewhere for dinner.
The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine, with sushi and other dishes available.
As someone who is vegan, I’m always paying attention to where I can find suitable meals when travelling. Having enjoyed dinner here during my stay, it’s another Kamloops restaurant I’d consider visiting again.
Breakfast Before Heading Home
I also had breakfast at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar before checking out.
This was a nice way to finish my stay, especially since I was heading towards McAbee Fossil Beds before continuing home.
Rather than having to check out, load everything into the car and look for a breakfast spot, I could enjoy my meal downstairs and then get on with the day’s plans.
One thing to know before booking is that breakfast isn’t automatically included in the standard room rate.
You can purchase breakfast at the restaurant or check whether your booking package includes it.

Helpful Tips for Planning Your Kamloops Stay
Kamloops is worth spending more than 1 night in, especially if you’re interested in combining nature, cultural attractions and local food.
Here are a few things I’d keep in mind when planning a stay at Best Western Premier Aberdeen.
- Plan to have a car. Aberdeen is convenient for driving, but you’ll need transportation to reach most downtown attractions.
- Make time for Kenna Cartwright Nature Park. It’s a short drive from the hotel and has trails with views across the Thompson Valley.
- Consider having dinner at Heaven Sushi + Sake Bar. You don’t need to leave the property, and I enjoyed my meals there.
- Check breakfast arrangements. Not every room rate includes breakfast, so factor that into your budget.

What to Do Near the Hotel
Although Aberdeen is primarily a convenient base for travellers with cars, there are several attractions worth visiting nearby.
Kenna Cartwright Nature Park is one of the best-known outdoor recreation areas in Kamloops, with trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels.
Aberdeen Mall is a short drive away and offers shopping, dining and services.
Downtown Kamloops is also within driving distance, where you can visit the Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Museum & Archives, colourful murals and Riverside Park.
I wouldn’t try to fit everything into a single day. Kamloops has enough to see and do that it’s worth choosing a few activities that interest you rather than rushing between attractions.
